Staycation popularity is on the rise, especially in Wales.

Firstly Welcome to our new blog! Here at The Cors Country House we have so much to shout about that we thought that it was about time we got our opinions down for everyone to read…

The reason for our blog is not just to promote our beautiful country house, our incredible guests do that for us. It’s to give you, our viewers, our potential holiday makers a real understanding of what The Cors Country House and its surrounding area truly has to offer. We hope you enjoy it!

The world and its opinions has shifted dramatically since the Covid pandemic, we think it's fair to say that there is a new found desire and appreciation for staycations throughout the UK. And why not? A staycation holiday can give you all the feels of an abroad holiday without the expenditure. Planning a staycation can mean less money spent on travel, food, and rentals, as well as the time it takes to get there. This leaves you with more quality holiday time for you and the family and more money to spend on fun experiences. The UK is full of exceptional locations, with Wales being at the forefront.

So why Wales? Yes we can’t always promise a Mediterranean forecast (not consistently anyway!) but with so much to offer the weather will be the last thing on your mind. So what’s near The Cors Country House?

Pendine Beach

The Cors Country House is only a stone's throw away from some of the most popular rural villages of West Wales including the vibrant Carmarthen town centre, the characterful seaside village of Saundersfoot and not forgetting the charming harbour town of Tenby. Shops, vast beaches, authentic welsh cafes and restaurants, adrenaline driven activities and the traditional sweet shops, these locations have it all.

And let's not forget Laugharne itself, within walking distance of The Cors Country House there are cafes, pubs, restaurants, and an adorable gift shop, from a steakhouse, to a Thai, we have you covered. Wales is a passionate country, no matter where you go you can become steeped in our admiration for our past and our landscape.

Laugharne Castle

Laugharne is no exception, as you drive into the heart of Laugharne you are greeted by the impressive structure of Laugharne Castle. Open to the public, these beautiful ruins are a great day out for all, and the view from the tower across the estuary is breathtaking! This is not forgetting the iconic Boathouse of Dylan Thomas, overlooking the estuary it is said that the village and this property inspired some of Dylan’s greatest work.

Got little ones? No problem! The Cors Country House is located just a short drive away from some of the most popular family friendly attractions; Folly Farm, Anna’s Welsh Zoo, Heatherton World of Adventures and Oakwood. And if you don’t feel like driving, the local Laugharne park is directly opposite our driveway, you can thank us later…
